Jennifer Ash - Painter & Therapist

My background as an artist goes back to my grandmother who was a professional artist.

She studied in Europe and eventually under the artist, Willem de Kooning.

My grandmother had her grandchildren painting, as soon as we could hold a paintbrush.

I paint whatever I feel called to paint. I use the medium and style that I feel is right for the subject, and my style changes depending on the subject.

Since I am trained with multiple mediums and do not have a favorite, I never know what I

will be creating. However, my technique is the same with all mediums. I like to layer the medium, to create a deep color palette. I put the medium on and take some off over and over again. Color is an emotional connection for me, as is balance within art and life.

As a therapist (LMFT), emotional responses are very important to me. I want my work to draw the viewer in to a place of calm, where they can imagine themself in the painting. People come to therapy in an emotional state, I want my work to call to them, to give them a place to escape to.

I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoyed creating them.
